Repairs

Repairing and replacing old, damaged parts can be a simple procedure and allow you to get your moneys worth out of your system. You should be warned that systems over two years old will have difficulty being repaired, as the technology for those systems is not manufactured anymore.

Upgrades

Upgrades to your existing system are always a good way to increase the lifespan of your system. Often times a new computer is not the most cost-efficient solution, but a simple upgrade of a part or software will do the trick. Things like upgrading storage capacity for more pictures, increasing your memory for programs or adding new videocards for 3d applications can make your system feel brand new.  Devices that can easily be upgraded are listed below:

  • Video cards – these devices display the image on your screen and help full screen applications run smoother
  • RAM – or system memory as it’s called. Upgrading this will always improve system speeds and performance all across the board. THE BEST bang for your buck for making older systems faster.
  • Sound cards – used for playing music, sounds in web pages, etc. Dedicated sound cards can lighten the load on your processor during peak usage.
  • Hard Drive Space – the place you store your documents, movies, pictures and games. Having more won’t improve performance but it allows you to hold more of your personal files.
  • Peripherals – monitors, mice, keyboards, printers. Anything that plugs into your system
  • Optical drives – Burn dvds, play movies, even use your PC for Blue-Ray discs. A new optical drive can add function to your system.
